  • The One Time Registration is not an application for any specific examination; rather, it serves as a platform for gathering information from applicants. It provides each applicant with a dedicated dashboard, enabling them to easily manage and maintain their personal profile.

  • Candidates can go through the instructions for One Time Registration(OTR) here

  • Next click on New Registration button. This will take you to the below web page.

  • Candidates has to fill the basic information which includes

    • Name and Verify Name

    • Full Name, if Any

    • Gender and Verify Gender

    • Date of Birth and Verify Date of Birth

    • Father's Name and Verify Father's Name

    • Mother's Name and Verify Mother's Name

    • Minority Status

    • Valid Mobile Number

    • Alternative Mobile Number, If any

    • Valid Email Id

    • Alternative Email Id

    • Class X Board Examination Roll No

    • Security Questions

  • For One Time Registration (OTR), candidates are required to furnish a valid email address and mobile number, as these will serve as their login credentials.

  • After successful completion, OTR ID and auto generated password will be sent to your Email ID and Mobile number.

  • Subsequently, the candidate is required to return to the home page and opt for the OTR ID mode for logging in, where they will input their OTR ID and the automatically generated password. Upon successful login, the system will prompt you to establish a new password.

  • Upon logging in, it is advisable to review the latest notifications. If the application form for the Civil Service Exam has been released, you will find a notification resembling the reference image provided below.

  • Civil Services Examination Application Form has two parts – Part I and Part II.


Steps to fill the Part I of the UPSC CSE application form


  • Click on the link available for Civil Services Part-I registration.

  • Candidates have to confirm that they have read and understood all the instructions to fill the application form.

  • Complete all essential details in the Part-I application form, including Name, Date of Birth, Category, Gender, Email ID, Contact Number, Permanent Address, Marital Status, Parents' Names, Community, Educational Qualifications, and other relevant information.

  • After entering all the necessary details, proceed by clicking on the "Continue" button. Subsequently, the system will prompt you to confirm whether you are asserting age relaxation eligibility. If you choose "yes," you are required to indicate the category to which you belong.

  • Click on continue and next you will have to select a identity proof .

  • Next you will have to fill the relevant details for your civil service mains examination.

  • Upon completing all the required information, proceed by clicking "Continue." Carefully review all the details in the online form before clicking "Submit."


Steps to fill Part II of the UPSC CSE application form


  • Make the payment for the UPSC application fee either online (via SBI Net Banking, debit card, or credit card) or offline (by cash through SBI bank challan). The fee is exempt for Female/SC/ST/PwD applicants, while all other candidates need to pay

  • Upload scanned images of your photograph, signature, and photo ID card as per UPSC specifications.

  • Provide the required information about fee payment details

  • Select the examination center for preliminary examination.

  • After reading the declaration, click on the 'I Agree' button.

  • Upon clicking, a page containing a generated registration number will appear. Record the registration number and print out the page for your records.


Steps to fill Detailed Application Form online


Candidates qualified on the basis of the result of the written part of the Examinations/Preliminary Examinations are required to fill the Detailed Application Form online.

  • Following the conclusion of the preliminary examination and the release of results, successful candidates are required to submit a fresh application for the Main examination. This involves completing the Detailed Application Form (DAF).

  • Select the designated link for the Detailed Application Form (DAF) pertaining to various UPSC examinations. Upon successful completion of the preliminary exam, you will encounter a notification resembling the reference image provided below.

  • Candidates must ensure the accurate completion of all fields. The Commission will not entertain any requests or correspondence from candidates seeking changes to the entries made during the process of filling out the Online Detailed Application Form.

  • Upon completing all the details, click the "Submit" button. A message displaying the candidate's name will appear on the screen, and a password will be sent to the candidate's email address.

  • Subsequently, candidates are advised to revisit the official UPSC website and log in to the module using their roll number and password.

  • Detailed Application form will be filled in two parts .

  • DAF 1 is filled after clearing Prelims Examination.

  • DAF 2 is filled after clearing Mains Examination.


Steps to fill Detailed Application Form I (DAF I)

  • In DAF 1, the majority of fields will be automatically filled in with information from the preliminary application form.

  • Candidate has to fill the Address for correspondence. This will be the address which UPSC uses to communicate with you.

  • Candidate has to fill their community certificate details.

  • Candidates has to fill the disability certification details, if any .

  • Candidates has to fill their education qualification certificate details.

  • Candidates has to fill their employment details if any . Here you will have to fill the details only if you are working in any Government/Public Enterprise or if you are self-employed.

  • Scan and Upload all the relevant documents which includes

    • Education qualification Proof (UG / PG certificate).

    • Identity Proof (Aadhar card/ Passport/ Driving License/ Voter Card)

    • Date of birth proof (Matriculation certificate).

    • SC/ST , OBC , PwD certificates to avail reservation , if applicable.

    • Hailing certificate to show that the candidate hails from Arunachal Pradesh/ Manipur/ Meghalaya/ Mizoram/ Nagaland or Sikkim , if applicable.

    • Undertaking "A" for Government employees in the prescribed format .

    • Disability Certificate , if applicable.

  • Candidates have the opportunity to make changes before their final submission; however, no modifications will be accommodated in any module once the candidate clicks on 'final submission.'


Steps to fill Detailed Application Form II (DAF II)


Candidates qualified on the basis of the result of the Mains Examinations are required to fill the Detailed Application Form II online. Let us see the step-by-step procedure to fill the DAF II.

  • Candidates need to go through the instructions to fill the DAF II carefully.

  • The fields for Service and cadre preferences hold significant importance in the DAF and should be filled out with careful consideration. Candidates are advised to think thoroughly before providing their preferences for both Service and cadre, as once submitted, alterations cannot be made.

  • UPSC DAF – Service Preference

Note : This serves as a reference outlining a suggested arrangement of services based on the popularity and preferences of the majority of candidates. However, the ultimate decision rests solely on the individual candidate's interests.

  • Aspiring candidates for IAS/IPS are recommended to specify all the Zones and Cadres in their online DAF-II in order of preference. Please note that no alterations to the preferences for Zones and Cadres will be allowed once submitted.

  • Candidates to fill their Hobbies and extra curricular activities details. Provide precise details regarding accolades, athletic accomplishments, and leadership roles, emphasizing achievements at the college or university level.
